About Madeleine

Maddy photo 3 (3).jpg

I am a registered architect, and a member of the American Institute of Architects. I received a Master of Architecture from Yale University in 1987, and Bachelor of Arts from Smith College in 1981.

After training at Richard Meier & Partners for 5 years on commercial & residential projects, I started Madeleine Sanchez Architect in 1992. For a decade, I worked with clients in New York City, before moving to the Hudson Valley in 2003. I’m now focused on local residential projects.

My work has been published in the New York Times, House Beautiful, and Interior Design. I have been the Architect in Residence at the MacDowell Colony, and was awarded the Skidmore Owings & Merrill Traveling Fellowship. I also taught at Parsons School of Design, The New School, and Yale College.

I received the “Cold Spring Living” award from the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce for the work that I do with local families, expanding and adpating their homes for the next chapter of their lives. This has made it possible for members of our community to remain in the homes they love.
